About LeanLM

Energy measurement for AI workloads, pre-launch. Founded by Chris Cholette in Palo Alto, CA.

What LeanLM is

Loupe measures what one AI request costs in energy: joules per request, on a stated hardware boundary, for one workload at a time. Fixed scope, fixed fee, no ongoing dependency. The work is currently pre-launch — see the measurements or scope one on your own workload. LeanLM's approach builds on the same techniques covered in our enterprise LLM cost optimization guide: routing, caching, compression, and distillation, validated against your own production data.

Is LeanLM affiliated with Google's LearnLM?

No.

LeanLM (leanlm.ai), maker of Loupe, is an independent, pre-launch company measuring what AI workloads cost in energy per request, founded by Chris Cholette. Google's LearnLM is a completely separate, unrelated product — a Gemini-integrated educational AI feature for tutoring and learning. There is no connection between LeanLM and LearnLM, their founders, or their products beyond the similarity in name.
